I installed Matriux on an HP mini 110 (3830nr) netbook, and there seem to be issues with the networking.  Although the operating system seems to recognize and have drivers installed to work the wireless card (a RaLink 5390 wireless card) I cannot get it to pick up wireless networks.  When I plug in the ethernet, it will pick up the ethernet connection, however, it will not establish a connection.

I read on another thread it may be necessary to recompile a different, newer kernel and install it.  I tried that, but every time I boot into the new kernel (3.4.1) I get a kernel panic message (the old kernel boots fine though).  Not sure where to go from here.

1) your newly compiled kernel didnt go well with compilation.

2) there are many posts in this forum regarding how to get your wireless working.

3) try using the command dhclient eth0 ( or ethX if eth0 is not) when you are plugged in .
